My personal strength regarding professional presentation is preparation. I always prepare extra for power point slides, possible questions from audiences, and practice. When I prepare, I make sure my power point slides have an all the essential information I want to cover. On top of power point slides, I usually prepare my cheat sheet, which has extra information about the topic I discuss and answers to possible questions from audiences. Lastly, I practice a lot before presentation. When I practice, I focus on my non-verbal cues such as eye contacts, facial expression, and postures. According to Smith (2020), most experts agree that 70 to 93 percent of all communication is nonverbal. In addition, some studies show that when messages are mismatched, most recipients will believe the nonverbal message over the spoken words. Thatâs why being aware of nonverbal cues is so important to effectively communicate with audiences. Therefore, it is crucial to focus on own non-verbal cues when we deliver messages even summary is written on power point slides. On the other hand, my weakness regarding presentation is that my power point slides can become wordy that makes hard for audience to keep up with extra written information. Since âextra preparationâ relieves my anxiety, I tend to type extra information on my slides. When I took my public speaking class, the most feedback I receive was âwordy power point slidesâ. It can be confusing to some audience and makes simple topic to complicated story. I will try my best to make simple slides when I present next time. Reference Smith, D. (2020, February 18).
