The latter is a process that endeavors to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of an article based on the main ideas of the paper, its positions as well as its claims. Article critique is a specialized form of writing that seeks to illustrate whether an author has passed across the message effectively to the readers. The title of the paper that is subject to this article critique is ?Does peace have a chance?? and it is authored by John Horgan. This article centers around the field of news and politics and its main purpose is to discuss whether there is any hope or chance of having peace reign in most countries in the near future. According to Horgan (2009), wars have been constantly experienced across the globe and they have been around for more than ten thousand years. However, the author notices that these wars have become less deadly and that there is some slight hope that things can get better. This article clearly brings out illustrations that show the reader that indeed the intensity of wars have since subsided (Oelrich, 2014). For instance, the author compares the Nagasaki bombing to the Middle East war of 2009.

The author goes ahead to show that the number of people who have since died in war in the 21st century are much less when compared to those who died in prehistoric times. This is supported through the claim that ?all the horrific wars of the 21st century are much less that the violent rate of death among the early ancestors?. (Horgan, 2009). Conclusively, this article has a high validity in the manner it extensively illustrates that the world can enjoy its peace in the near future.
